The Esther Cancer Care Ministry is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing cancer care support for individuals and families facing the challenges of cancer. Our ministry was born from a personal journey with cancer and a calling to ensure that no one has to walk through this difficult season alone.
We offer compassionate care, practical assistance, and spiritual encouragement to members of our community who are navigating cancer treatment and recovery. Thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners, we are able to meet real needs and bring hope to those who need it most.
Our mission is simple: to provide community support for cancer, compassion, and faith-based cancer ministry that encourages individuals and families impacted by cancer.
Even in our first year of operation, we have already witnessed how small acts of kindness can make a powerful difference in the lives of patients and caregivers.

Meet Our Founder
Evangelist Tomeka Montegue, a dedicated leader in providing cancer care support, has been pivotal in fostering community support for cancer. Through her faith-based cancer ministry, she inspires and empowers those affected by this disease.
Evangelist Tomeka Montegue is a licensed minister, author, and founder of The Esther Cancer Care Ministry, a faith-based outreach established in 2025 to provide cancer care support for individuals and families navigating a cancer diagnosis.
Married to her husband Garry for over 30 years, Tomeka is a devoted woman of faith whose life and ministry are rooted in compassion, resilience, and service. In 2023, she was diagnosed with cancer, an experience that deepened her calling to minister to those facing illness and life’s most difficult seasons.

With a professional background in hospitality management, Evangelist Tomeka brings a heart for service and community support for cancer into every aspect of her work, creating spaces where people feel supported, valued, and strengthened through the love of Christ.
In the United States in 2022, about 1,851,000 new cancers were diagnosed, and in 2023 over 613,000 people died from cancer, making it one of the nation’s leading causes of death. Estimates for 2025 project over 2 million new cancer cases and more than 618,000 deaths. These numbers represent real people—mothers, fathers, siblings, friends—who may suddenly be thrust into crisis, highlighting the urgent need for cancer care support and community support for cancer. Many turn to faith-based cancer ministry for guidance and comfort during these challenging times.
There are about 18.6 million cancer survivors in the U.S., which is roughly 5 percent of the entire population. This number is expected to grow significantly in the coming decades as people live longer after diagnosis. Many survivors benefit from cancer care support, as they often face long treatment courses, chronic health challenges, emotional trauma, and ongoing medical needs. Community support for cancer is crucial, and faith-based cancer ministry can play an important role in providing the necessary resources and comfort to those navigating their journey.
Many cancer patients—especially single adults or those living alone—lack trusted people to help with appointments, medication management, advocacy, and daily needs. Research shows that loneliness and social isolation are linked with poorer health outcomes and even higher mortality risk for people with serious illnesses like cancer. This highlights the importance of community support for cancer, as dedicated support systems—not just medical care—are absolutely essential. Faith-based cancer ministry can also play a crucial role in providing the cancer care support that patients need during these challenging times.
An estimated 53 million U.S. adults served as caregivers for a family member in 2020, with about 4 million specifically providing cancer care support for someone battling cancer. Many caregivers sacrifice their own health, skip their own doctor visits, and face burnout without any relief or structured community support for cancer. This gap leaves caregivers isolated and exhausted, even as they strive to help their loved ones, highlighting the need for faith-based cancer ministry initiatives that can offer the support they desperately need.
Cancer care is costly, with national cancer care expenditures reaching hundreds of billions of dollars, creating significant stress for patients and families. Millions of Americans lack proper resources, including financial, informational, or emotional cancer care support, when navigating complex medical systems. Those without adequate community support for cancer can experience delayed care, reduced treatment adherence, and worse overall outcomes, highlighting the need for robust faith-based cancer ministry initiatives to assist those in need.
Although there isn’t a central database recording how many die alone, many cancer patients do not have caregivers, family nearby, or anyone to share critical health information with—leaving them vulnerable in crisis. This highlights the need for community support for cancer, such as ministries or cancer care support networks that provide companionship, advocacy, and spiritual strength.

"The God-Sent Wife And How She Does It" shares Evangelist Tomeka’s testimony from over 30 years of marriage, offering wisdom, faith, and encouragement to women who desire to honor God in their relationships. This book not only highlights her journey of emotional healing and spiritual growth but also emphasizes the importance of community support for cancer, particularly through faith-based cancer ministry initiatives. It encourages women to align their lives with biblical principles to better understand the covenant of marriage while addressing modern challenges, including those that affect relationships today, such as the need for cancer care support. This inspiring book provides guidance for women seeking healing, spiritual growth, and a deeper understanding of marriage God’s way.
